The Isolation Coronavirus Blues

Marty Qatani

If your life has been impacted by the current Coronavirus pandemic, I'd like to offer my sincere condolences and best wishes. If you're in the medical profession, police, firefighter, or other essential worke, such as groceries, transit, pharmacies and more, I thank you for being there and doing what you can to help the rest of us who are not. Your bravery, and efforts should be applauded. I hope you and your loved ones are well, and doing everything possible to stay that way.
Can we make lemonade out of lemons ? While isolation may be a necessity, it doesn't have to be a bad thing. Now may be the time to further explore interests put aside.. painting, writing, dancing, meditation... opportunities are there if you choose to look for them. Are you as interested in music as I am ? Now may be the time to explore new artists you've been wanting to...Spotify is an excellent tool for that. Now may also be a good time to catch up with old friends or family members... they're just an email or Facetime chat away.  Isolation can also be a time to calm ones self and maybe gain some new perspective. I was trying to think of a good song that reflected some of these thoughts, and Brian Wilson's classic Beach Boy hit, In My Room came to mind.

" There's a world where I can go and tell my secrets to
In my room, in my room
In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears
In my room, in my room

Do my dreaming and my scheming
Lie awake and pray
Do my crying and my sighing
Laugh at yesterday

Now it's dark and I'm alone
But I won't be afraid
In my room, in my room "

Hang in there people. We can come out of this if we work together and help those who need it if possible. Please stay safe and well, and get better if you need to.
